A Prayer attributed to St. Francis (BCP p. 833) Lord, make us instruments of your peace. Where there is hatred, let us sow love; where there is injury, pardon; where there is discord, union; where there is doubt, faith; where there is despair, hope;
Thanks for bringing this back to us today. As I read it again, I was struck by the fact that it embodies the whole of the Ten Words from Mount Sinai enshrined in Jesus' use of it in response to that lawyer asking "what must I do to inherit eternal life?" It reminds me how much w evangelicals have totally screwed up "the gospel."
During my childhood in Catholic schools we recited this prayer regularly. Reading it just now brought the words back, so familiar, so comforting. Worth memorizing again! Thanks for sharing today.
