Chicago’s Pope

Pope Leo XIV, or Robert Francis Prevost, is the first pope born in the United States. In fact, he was born in Chicago, and grew up in Dolton Illinois. He went to seminary in Michigan and became an Augustinian in 1977. Much of his multifaceted ministry occurred in Peru, so he has become every bit a bicultural pope.
