I was eager to share a TOV experience at our church today. Rather than give to the Elder's Fund (like a Benevolence Fund), the church provided $50 gift cards to a large chain store, and asked us to pray for God to lead us or open our eyes to someone in need. No strings attached. Just an act of kindness to be done in humility. As we left our sanctuary, everyone was given a $50 gift card. Our pastor said, "You give every month to this fund and trust us (elders) to distribute it. We trust you and want you to experience this practice and blessing. " If anyone doesn't use theirs, they ask that at Thanksgiving we just return them to be used as needed for needs in the community.
