We begin this week with a post asking, “What would happen in our churches if we were to concentrate on character formation more than numbers?” This is the beginnings and parts of a chapter I am writing. Let’s face reality friends: many of the problems we are now facing in the unmasking of evangelicalism are the direct result from the cultures our leaders have created. This won’t change because we want it to; it will only change if we are willing to be transformed from the ground up. I offer a beginning to that conversation tomorrow.
Tuesday we dip into a topic being bandied about by many: How do you read the Old Testament “christocentrically”? Is it fair, say, to Deuteronomy?
Wednesday we enter a conversation many of need: how do we read and teach and ponder Old Testament narratives? What do we do with them?
Thursday we will have a conversation about passing the torch from a (charismatic) leader to the next leader. It’s not so easy but some have done this well.
Friday is always awaiting assignment.
This month we will be looking at some brand new books, including Martha Nussbaum’s new book Citadels of Pride, about the law and sexual abuse and harassment. And that’s just the beginning of what will be in August here at Tov Unleashed.
Wonderful topics! I'm looking forward to all of it.
