The title for this post (and series) sounds like a British pub’s name but it isn’t. It’s the name of a new, important book that will be the featured book of our next Tov Book Club. The book is by two professors, Philip Gorski and Samuel Perry, and their new book is called

I have been reading an older work by Nathan O. Hatch, "The Democratization of American Christianity." It speaks to the post-Revolutionary church from 1780 - 1840. While this book was written back in the early 2000's, it speaks volumes to how we have gotten where we have in the church. It appears there has been a constant undercurrent of "uprising" just below the surface for a very long time.
As a community college professor who teaches American Government courses in Texas, I am thankful for this book choice and looking forward to the discussion that follows.
