Yēsous and Mariam
John 12:1 Therefore, Yēsous, six days before the Pascha, came into Bēth-Ania, where Lazaros was, whom Yēsous raised from among the dead ones. 2 Therefore, they did supper with him there. Maria was serving and Lazaros was one of the ones reclining with him.
3 Therefore, Mariam, taking a pound of costly, pure fragrant ointment, oiled Yēsous’ feet and wiped his feet with her hair. The house was filled out from the ointment’s fragrance. 4 Youdas, the Dagger man, one of his apprentices, who being about to hand him over, says, 5 “Why was this ointment not sold for 300 denaria and given to beggars?” (6 He said this not because there is a concern in him about the beggars but because he was a thief and, having the money bag, he was carrying [away] what was tossed [in it].) 7 Therefore, Yēsous said, “Release her so she may keep it for the day of my entombment. 8 For you have the beggars with you always, but you do not have me always.”
9 Therefore, the great crowd from the Youdaians knew he is there and they came not because of Yēsous only but so also they might see Lazaros, whom he raised from among the dead ones. 10 The Senior Priests decided that they would also kill Lazaros, 11 because many of the Youdaians were going away because of him and were trusting in Yēsous.
