Yēsous, the good shepherd
10:1 This is especially true to say to you: The one not entering through the door into the sheeps’ enclosure but ascending from another place, that person is a thief and bandit. 2 The one entering through the door is sheep’s shepherd. 3 The doorkeeper opens for this one and the sheep hear his voice and he voices his own sheep by name and he leads them out. 4 Whenever he tosses out all his own, he journeys before them and the sheep follow him because they know his voice. 5 They will never follow an outsider but will flee from him because they do not know the outsider’s voice. (6 Yēsous said this proverb to them but they did not know what it was he was speaking to them.)
7 Therefore, Yēsous said again,
This is especially true to say to you, that: I am the door for the sheep. 8 All who came before me are thieves and bandits, but the sheep did not hear them. 9 I am the door. If someone enters through me, the person will be delivered and will enter and will exit and will find pasture. 10 The thief does not come except to thieve and slaughter and destroy. I came that they may have Life and have [it] abundantly. 11 I am the beautiful shepherd. The beautiful shepherd places his self for his sheep. 12 The wage-taker, and not being a shepherd, whose sheep are not his own, observes the wolf coming and releases the sheep and flees, and the sheep snatches them and scatters [them], 13 because he is the wage-taker and there is no concern for him about the sheep. 14 I am the beautiful shepherd and I know mine and mine know me, 15 just as the Father knows me and I know the Father, and I place my self for the sheep. 16 I have other sheep that are not of this enclosure. It’s necessary for me also to lead those and they will hear my voice, and they will become one flock, one shepherd. 17 Because of this, the Father loves me because I place my self so I may receive it again. 18 No one lifts it from me but I place it from myself. I have authority to place it, and I have authority again to receive it. I received this order from my Father.
19 Again, there was a rip among the Youdaians because of these words. 20 Many of them were saying, “He has a demon and is frenzied. Why hear him?” 21 Others were saying, “These utterances are not from one demonized. A demon isn’t able to open eyes for the sightless, is he?”
