Jesus Glowing
These weekly readings from the lectionary Bible verses are my own translation, called The Second Testament, and is with the editors at the publisher. I’ve been asked about this translation by some of you, and your interest is encouraging. I’m told the due date is about a year from now.
Yēsous glows
28 It happened after these words, about eight days: Taking Petros and Yōannēs and Yakōbos, he ascended into the mountain to pray. 29 It happened in his praying: his face’s form [was] another and his robe [was] white, dazzling. 30 Look! Two men were conversing with him, who were Mōüsēs and Ēlias, 31 who, appearing in splendor, were talking about his exodus, which he was about to fill out in Yierousalēm. 32 Petros and those with him were heavy in sleep. Being fully awake, they saw his splendor and the two men standing with him. 33 It happened in their separating from him, Petros said to Yēsous, “Superintendent, it’s beautiful for us to be here. Let us make three tents, one for you, one for Mōüsēs, one for Ēlias. (Not knowing what he is saying.) 34 Saying these things… a cloud came and it enveloped them. They were scared in their entering into the cloud. 35 A voice came from the cloud, saying,
This is my royal Son, elected. Listen to him!
36 In the voice having occurred, Yēsous was found alone. They were silent and declared to no one in those days nothing of what they had seen.
Yēsous heals a man’s son
37 It happened on the next day, they’re coming down from the mountain … A large crowd met him. 38 Look! A man from the crowd bellowed, saying, “Teacher, I plead with you to look upon my son because he is my only son.” 39 Look! A spirit takes him and unexpectedly it cries out and it convulses him with froth and rarely separates from him, breaking him. 40 I pleaded with your apprentices that they toss it out, and they were not able. 41 Responding, Yēsous said, “Wow, anti-trust and distorted generation! How long will I be with you and put up with you? Lead your son here.” 42 He’s still approaching … the demon tore and convulsed him. Yēsous rebuked the contaminating spirit and cured the child and gave him back to his father. 43 All were shocked at God’s magnificence.
