Looking Ahead, Peeking Back
We had a fun week at Tov Unleashed and this week looks to be another good one.
Monday I turn again to the Beyond Deconstruction series with a special look at what I’m calling the “term behind the terms” — and I will look at what’s happening with “salvation” in the deconstruction/reconstruction developments. Much in every way. Then we turn to “one nation under Graham” and how Billy Graham’s powerful influence shaped the adding of “under God” to the Pledge of Allegiance. This is another indicator of how political evangelicalism was from the 40s and 50s on.
What happens when we read the Bible as “oracles,” which many do? Tune in this week for that plus a post on Lynn Cohick’s chapter on Ephesian Christianity in the tribute volume.
Last week’s posts included:
the third term beyond deconstruction.
reading the Bible as laws.
Bonhoeffer’s famous essay on the problem with the American churches.
Living the Gospel in Acts.
Beth Barr’s useful list of the contributing elements to the ESV.
