Looking Ahead, Peeking Back
Last week was special for me. Not only did it begin with the news of a collected volume of tribute essays to me but it was the first in person speaking event I have had since January 2020 and the first flight since December 2019. It was a good time at Apprentice Institute in Wichita at Friends University. It is always great to see James Bryant Smith.
Last week on Tov Unleashed, this Substack newsletter, we began on Monday by looking at Reading the Bible as Documents, turned on Tuesday to my new book about 5 Things (the newsletter was about 5 Things Begin with 1), on Wednesday I sketched three phases of deconstruction, and on Thursday I gave a big thanks to Nijay and his team of editors for the tribute volume.
This week begins by offering a word of encouragement to all doing ministry during the pandemic. The apostle Paul has a magical moment I want to turn to. I hope it can be solace for the pain and struggle so many in ministry are experiencing (and have experienced for 18 months).
Tuesday we look at what it means to read the Bible as stories.
Wednesday I turn back to our series about Beyond Deconstruction. I begin what I am suggesting to be the first step in REconstruction. Where to begin? Join us.
Thursday I will turn again to the 5 Things project.
