Looking Ahead, Peeking Back
This week will be another fun one on Tov Unleashed.
Monday we consider what it means to look at the various books in the Bible as “documents,” that is as texts authored by a person (or persons) for a given audience at a given time — in other words, reading them for history.
Tuesday I return to the 5 Things project books by Hans Boersma and me. 5 Things begins with 1 Thing. Why do we read the Bible on Sunday and not Plato or Barth or Calvin?
Wednesday’s post is about the Three Phases of Deconstruction. I anticipate another week of good conversations.
Because I had an intensive class last week I am behind so I’m working on both Thursday and Friday, but still undecided.
Last week: What does a survivor-centric approach do to pastoral authority? What does “inspiration” mean? Why is the NIV (presumably) a bit nervous about translating with “works” in a positive sense? Is there something beyond all this deconstruction? And the Christian ethic of generosity. That was our week, a full one and a good one.
