Looking Ahead, Peeking Back
This is new-book season as publishers have new publications available for the annual academic meetings. So, I’ve got a bundle of books to sort through with you. Including the wonderful new book edited by Joseph Sievers and Amy-Jill Levine called The Pharisees as well as God and Guns, edited by Christopher Hays and CL Crouch. Anyway, that’s some of what’s coming … and there’s much more.

Meanwhile, here’s what will happen this week:
On Monday we stir the waters for the Hays-Crouch volume to come with a post about following Jesus without the Second Amendment. Tuesday we ask, What makes Christians different? On Wednesday I turn to brand new fantastic book that cracks open the old chestnut about the meaning of “Jew” and “Israel.” Thursday we turn to my tribute volume for a post about my Bishop’s contribution on the kingdom spirituality of The Book of Common Prayer.
Last week’s posts:
Jesus Creed Books of the Year
A summary post about the series called “Beyond Deconstruction.”
Deep Bible, Deep Tradition
Gospel Worship (what happened to liturgy in the Reformation?)
Who decides who is a heretic and what is heresy?
