My Substacks are becoming a little less predictable because of new books, some drawing only one post, and because of some coming contributions from others. (For which I’m grateful because their voices need to be heard.)

I have been blogging and Substacking for twenty years, and I can hardly believe it. One of the most enjoyable experiences of this blogging career has been stepping aside to give the mic to others, some of whom have gone on to … well, becoming well-known authors and speakers. Alongside this has been the opportunity to post about a book only to find my post contributed to an author’s book topping the charts. I don’t need to name names or books, but I want you to know I find helping others along to be rewarding.
So, let’s begin the week with an author I had not heard of but whose newest book, I believe, can become a serious contributor to understanding American Christianity. Her name is Bethany Ober Mannon, and her book is I Grew Up in the Church. Join us tomorrow.
On Tuesday we hear the story of a woman, a pastor, a mom, a wife, and a wonderful scholar and writer, and her discovery of the discipline and joy of sabbathing.
Wednesday we begin a series by women on the new book by Heather Matthews, Confronting Sexism in the Church. I could summarize and interact with her book, but this is a series that only women can write about with the pathos needed.
Thursday: I want to provide a reflection on praying to the God of grace.

Interesting. What I really liked about Kamala Harris Candidate acceptance speech was not mentioning she is a woman. There's a line in the West Wing where Jed Bartlett says, "I'm Jed Bartlett and I AM the President of the United States". That's the vibe I got from Kamala. "I AM the President of the United States." I don't know what "feminism" is, but I DO know what being human is. We are ALL capable, at some level, because we are human . . regardless of gender.

"In May, I announced I’m committing $1 billion over the next two years to people and organizations working to support women and girls in the U.S. and around the world." "Right now, less that 2% of philanthropic funding goes to women and girls.:"
When you wrote A Church Called Tov, you could not forseen how timely your voice was about to become. We cannot ignore that there is a very large group of men who are terrorified, because they have been trained up to compete rather than collaborate, and will go to physical war rather than APPLY Jesus teaching. THIS IS NOT AN US OR THEM conversation. Women must be lifted and it is wrong for boys to be left behind. WE ALL MUST LIFT TOGETHER. Yes, naming is part of the process toward Holy, and we KNOW leaving parts OUT is wrong.
Hey Scot… I really appreciate that you do this. You empower others. Blessings to you today.
