Thank you, Scot. As you know, I’m a Philippians fan. The “day of Christ” — the coming, yet now the presence (parousia) of the Lord. Do we think that His arrival will instantaneously, magically turn us into loving people? Especially in light of our not being so in His presence now? (The “twinkle of an eye” line refers to our bodies, I think, not our character. Could be wrong, but…). I like your summary of Paul’s petitions — what love prays. Practicing, preparing in love in the presence of Christ — maybe that’s the sharing, fellowship, co-partaking of faith among the faithful.
