The Eventful Week Ahead
We will begin Monday with a response to the recent criticisms of those studying evangelical history but do so with friendly fire. Some think such criticisms lack love for the church. I weigh in.
Tuesday I turn to how Simon in the Gospel of John only at the end becomes Peter, and how this exemplifies spiritual formation over time.
Many churches have turned to compassion and justice ministries. I open a new book about “shelter theology” to see how a practitioner in such ministries unpacks what we can all learn from such persons.
And, Thursday I turn again to Ernst Käsemann’s prescient understandings of church and society, understandings that flow from the colossal failures of Germany’s churches and leaders in the Holocaust.
