The Gospel for Easter
From The Second Testament, Luke 24:1-12
On the first [day] of the Sabbaths, during deep dawn, they came to the tomb carrying the spices they prepared. 2 They found the stone rolled away from the tomb, 3 and entering, they did not find the Lord Yēsous’ body.
4 It occurred in their perplexity about this, and Look! Two men in radiant clothing stood over them 5. . . they’re over-awed and reclining [their] faces to the land . . . they said to them [the women], “Why pursue the living with the dead? 6He isn’t here but has been raised. Remember, as he spoke to you while in the Galilaia [Galilee], 7 saying it’s necessary for the Son of Humanity to be given over into the hands of human sinners and to be crucified and on the third day to rise up.”
8 They remembered his utterances, 9 and returning from the tomb, they declared all these things to the Eleven and to all the remaining. 10 (They were Maria the Magdalēnē [Mary Magdalene] and Yōanna [Joanna] and Maria [Mary], mother of Yakōbos [James], and the women remaining with them.) They were saying these things to the Commissioners, 11 and these utterances appeared before them as nonsense, and they were not trusting the women. 12 Petros [Peter], arising ran to the tomb and, peering, sees only the linen cloths, and he departed, stunned in himself about what had happened.
