From The Second Testament. Mark 10:35-45
Yēsous and the mother of two Apprentices
35Yakōbos [James] and Yōannēs [John], Zebedaios’s [Zebedee’s] sons, journey to him, saying to him, “Teacher, we want that whatever we ask you, you may do for us.” 36 He said to them, “What do you want that I may do for you?” 37 They said to him, “Give to us that we may sit in your splendor, one at your right and one at your left.”
38 Yēsous said to them, “You don’t know what you ask. Are you able to drink the cup that I drink, or to be dipped with the dipping in which I am dipped?” 39 They said to him, “We are able.” Yēsous said to them, “You will indeed drink the cup that I drink, and you will be dipped in the dipping that I am dipped. 40 But this sitting at my right or my left isn’t mine to give, but for those whom it has been prepared.”
41 The ten, hearing, began to be angered about Yakōbos and Yōannēs.
42 Calling them, Yēsous says to them, “You know that the ones seeming to rule the ethnic groups overrule them, and their great ones overpower them. 43 It will not be so among you: Instead, whoever wants to become great among you will be your servant, 44 and whoever wants to be first among you will be everyone’s slave. 45 For the Son of Humanity did not come to be served but to serve and to give his self as liberation price for many.”
