This Week at Tov Unleashed
Classes for the new school year begin for me tomorrow. I look forward to the 2022 NT cohort, and I think what I cherish most is how they will become a fellowship of friends as the week develops. We are in class most of the day (8:30-3:30) but we also have lunch together. Believe me, it’s unlike any other form of education. Just ask our students.
So, it’s appropriate for me to begin this week’s newsletters with a post about some random rules for writing. With a hearty thanks to George Orwell. Stuff I’d like this year’s class to know.
Pastors with a persona on a platforms… you know the drill. We will turn Tuesday to a fresh look at a new chp in Katelyn Beaty’s bold book as we sketch some major ideas about the misuse of power among celebrity pastors. She names names and tells stories.
Many have reminded us that we are a divided society, a divided country, and a divided church. What’s at the bottom of it? Or, at least, what is a well-defined vice inhabiting our society that has a good Christian alternative? Join us Wednesday.
On Thursday we finish The Flag and the Cross, the creative new book on Christian nationalism. Don’t be fooled, this form of American faith is a serious threat to the gospel.
