What books I read for Substack is not always predictable. What comes across my desk, at what time, how it fits with what I’m writing, and what captures my attention — these factors impact the choices.
Of late I have been reading about eschatology, including Greg Carey’s fine book (another post this week), Dan Hummel’s book on the rise of dispensationalism (this week too), and I am reading Bart Ehrman’s new book Armageddon (this week also).
On top of that, Isaac Sharp’s book on who the evangelical gatekeepers have kept from the center of the action, if not defined out of the tribe, grabs me every week — and this week I will look at his chapter on evangelical progressives, or if you will, progressive evangelicalism.
Again, if you’d like to participate in the conversations and read all the posts, please subscribe.
Carey’s is on my list. I’m interested to hear what you think of Ehrman’s.
