We began our morning on Friday here in Jerusalem with a visit to the City of David, which lies south of the temple platform on the spine between two valleys. We have a picture looking east toward the famous cemetery for the Jewish people, a picture of the Al Aqsa mosque from the City of David area, and then a picture of the tunnel going toward Hezekiah’s famous tunnel. It is quite a remarkable achievement, that tunnel system.
Because Sabbath begins on Friday (Shabbat Shalom!), we traveled to Bethlehem in the Palestinian Authority, where we had a marvelous lunch together, and then visited the Shepherd’s fields along with the Church of Nativity, which (good for us, bad for Bethlehem and tourism) was nearly empty. For most of our local guide’s discussion we were the only ones in the church.
Unforgettable!
Thanks for posting these updates. So many great memories of my trip there in 2014. That Hezekiah tunnel was INTENSE! So glad you all got to make the trip.
