By Mike Glenn "How are you doing since COVID?" my friend asked. He pastors a nearby congregation. I knew what he wanted to know. He wanted to know if our attendance was back to pre-COVID numbers. Is our church back to where it was before COVID? A lot of things happened during the quarantine and one of the things that happened was that people stayed home from church. A lot of them haven't come back to church. This has a lot of church leaders worried if they will ever come back.
Mike (and Scot), thank you for this elegantly simple, but profound reflection! This needs to be reposted in places like Christianity Today, Christian Century, and anywhere else pastors and church leaders linger. Thank you.
Thank you, Mike, for your Good Word here, and Scot for opening the door. Amen! to the one that matters, the one Jesus told us matters the most - the lost(for all that can mean) one nobody else saw, or sees.
I did an internship at a church in the inner city of Minneapolis and the pastor said to me one time almost the same thing . Numbers don’t matter, it’s the message of Hope that matters.
