Luke 6:27-38
27 But to you I say to those who are hearing:
Love your enemies!
Do beautifully to the ones hating you!
28 Bless the ones cursing you!
Pray for the ones mistreating you!
29 To the one who beats you on the cheek – present the other, and from the one who takes your robe don’t prohibit your shirt!
30 Give to everyone requesting, and don’t make claims from the one taking your things!
31 And just as you want that humans do to you, you do likewise to them!
32 If you love the ones loving you, what grace is it to you? For even the sinners love the ones loving them.
33 For even if you do good to the ones doing good to you, what grace is it to you? Even the sinners do the same.
34 And if you lend from whom you hope to receive, what grace is it to you? Even sinners lend to sinners that they might receive back equal things.
35 However, love your enemies and do good and lend, hoping for nothing back! Your wage will be great, and you will be descendants of the Highest One, because he is gracious on the ungracious and evil.
36 Be sympathetic as your Father is sympathetic!
37 Don’t judge, and you will never be judged!
Don’t condemn, and you will never be condemned!
Loosen, and you will be loosened!
38 Give, and it will be given to you! A beautiful measure – pressed down, shaken, overflowing – will be given into your garment’s fold. For you will be re-measured by the measure by which you measure.
What version is this? I resonate with it.
Scot I like your choice of 'sympathetic' where other translations have 'merciful'.
