Amen to the sports comments. Or any interest of congregants.... or friends, or neighbors, or children in a family. A deep listen goes a long way. As to the Piping Plovers.... We have enjoyed watching the with binoculars in the Grand Marais area, where they have done much to protect nesting.
As someone whose husband works in sports, we have had many conversations with our children around the things they see happening, either with players or behind the scenes in the front office. I always say we have been blessed with many object lessons on why following Jesus is worth it and trying to do things our own way is not. I suppose sports can be idolatry, or can distract from following the Lord because you care more about your team, but I have seen that in many ways it’s just a business like any other, and I would hope churches would speak to all people about how to engage in your work well and with keeping Jesus at the forefront of all you do.

I really appreciate your Saturday meanderings
