Thank you for your update on the Jesus Revolution. Lonnie was a gay man and publications suggest this led to rejection by the Church which started through him. He died of AIDS and this seems little recorded in Christian circles. I am so sad that he was rejected and sad that reports suggest the film does not include the facts of what Lonnie went through. I wondered if those who have seen the film have a view on that. I would like to go to see it to be encouraged by the film. I am encouraged by the powerful move of the Spirit for Lonnie and the people touched by that move. I want to be encouraged by moves of the Spirit and try not to be affected by abusive behaviours I have witnessed as people mess things up in the Church.
Also appreciating using the Collects of the Book of Common Prayer each day this last month. You are so right- all that theology and spot on prayers crammed into 3 sentences. What a resource! I bought an Australian book (1984) secondhand online and it gives you 2 choices of the collects each week. Quite handy to intersperse through the week.
It depends where you are in the world. I’m in Sydney and I appreciate that the Australian edition gets the spelling right!!! I got it on eBay. It’s incredible that these things that were in every pew by the dozens are rare as hen’s teeth now. I gave mine away years ago when I thought that stuff was ‘old hat’- and now I’ve seen how it helps your prayer life. Brian Zahnd’s prayer school uses it daily which is why I thought to try it again.
The daily readings that go with it are simply beautiful too. Good luck with getting one.
Btw- I also use a catholic prayer book, The Missal, which I picked up for free at a local farmers market. I’d been brought up to believe Catholics were evil heretics, I assumed it would be packed full of idol worship and prayers to Mary or saints. Truth bomb: no such thing- beautiful readings from the bible over a 3 year lectionary, and prayers based on a rich revelation of Gods love and our call to love one another! What shame I felt from my previous judgemental attitude and what delight to realise there were brothers and sisters there too. And what revelation to realise where the Anglicans got their own prayer book idea from!

Thank you
I would like to start using the BCP, but there are so many different options available. Can you suggest something easy to follow on my own?
A search for Anglican BCP has not been fruitful.
Thank you!
I recommend the 1979 American edition. It's my favorite.
Thank you so much!
