This past Sunday I told some friends that I no longer think of the Republican or Democrat party, but the Republican and Democrat parties. Our flagship political institutions may be different in many ways, but they share this: neither is a monolith. Both have several sub-groups that vie for power.
This is very interesting research thanks for highlighting it. I do think the placement of “outsider left” in the visually moderate position was a mistake by the researchers. In general people on the left who feel outside of the democratic establishment are either left of progressive democrats or on par with them. The research seems to confirm this. Overall very interesting stuff though.
