“Some SBC churches, and those not affiliated but who hold similar theologies, would argue that those women are excluded through mission work. I want to point out the hidden racism of allowing a woman to lead a man, as long as that man has a different ethnicity or skin color.”
This.., I had not thought in this way but wow. What a true statement. I’ve traveled to Cambodia multiple times on mission trips to teach, minister and encourage the women there. We held women’s conferences. Many men attended and they listened intently to me and other women as we taught. Mostly women lead the small village churches there. Thanks for sharing this.
I have had the same experience teaching in Cambodia where men and women, young and old form the most beautiful small gatherings (Cambodian Ekklesia), learning and encouraging each other with few barriers.
Well said, in particular I appreciate your imagery of what you won’t do in debate; “ I won’t come to your front porch and tell you why your wrong, and then write hateful comments “
What annoys me is how distracting from teaching people how to make the leap from knowing what Jesus says to doing what Jesus says this conversation is. I've seen so many posts about this. Many not very kind. Or patient. Humble or making a disciple. There's so much concern about the shape of the body??? Somehow this seems very deceptive.
"The problem is Baptist women were preaching long before feminism." Very true - large numbers of Baptist type churches had a woman as founding pastor. Also true, many are not listed as such in the church's official history. Me - long time advocate for women as preachers, still learning from them as well.
