A busy week for Kris and me. I will be speaking Wednesday night in a church in San Antonio about Revelation for the Rest of Us, and then a Friday-Sunday SBL event will be wall-to-wall interactions and conversations and presentations. I’m giving a paper to the Pastoral Epistles section at IBR. I hope by then I will have a copy of my new commentary in hand. (Author copies have not yet arrived.) We love the Riverwalk in San Antonio.
On Wednesday, can you include the effect the continuing trauma of Roman occupation would likely have had on the population, and in particular, how various groups such as Pharisees, Saducees, Zealots, etc. might be a reaction to that trauma? (Maybe this is what you are doing anyway, or part of it.). And comment on how Jesus' ministry interacted with/responded to that trauma? Thanks.
