I’m offering a Tov Book Club to subscribers to this Substack. A friend of mine suggested a Book Club for this Substack community, and he suggested 4 books per year.
The Tov Book Club will announce a book in advance, will read one chapter per week, and we will develop questions to create more conversation. I will summarize the chp with pertinent quotations for the conversation. (You don’t have to buy the book or read the book to participate but it will help.)
But first a question: What books do you recommend we read and discuss together?
Here we go friends:
First offering. Austin Carty, The Pastor’s Bookshelf: Why Reading Matters for Ministry. How tov can a book about reading books be for the Tov Book Club? The book has 15 short chapters.
We will begin April 25. Pp. 1-22, Introduction and chp 1 (Formation). I want these conversations to be safe so the weekly conversation will be for subscribers only.
I am enjoying this book at your recommendation, and would welcome the chance to discuss it on line.
Good morning- I will read anything you all suggest , as it will broaden my base... Of course N.T Wright would be a suggestion from me and a female voice too should be on the list . It would be good for me and maybe others to hear an African voice, or Latin American voice- I am Canadian so if i find a Canadian voice , I may suggest that- this is a great idea-ty for offering-Oh, will the books be available on kindle/kobe???? or are people buying hard/soft cover? sometimes page numbers are tricky to follow when we all use different means of reading...
